Key Stage 3 Curriculum

For further information on the Academy’s curriculum please contact Mr N Packard (Vice
Principal).

As an 11-18 provider, we are ideally placed to offer meaningful pathways between GCSE
and Post-16 which are required for future work and University.

A carefully planned, broad and balanced curriculum is offered which builds on the learning from Key Stage 2, and offers new subjects which do not get covered in depth at primary school.

Even at Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) there is a focus towards the endpoint of main school which is
GCSEs in Year 11. Subjects taught at Key Stage 3 involve the development of skills and
techniques required at GCSE. Progress towards GCSE begins at the start of Year 7; if this
progress is not monitored until Year 10 then it may be too late for a student’s grades to improve.
Parents are provided with a “Creating Futures” report every term to monitor progress
throughout Key Stage 3. Read more about “Creating Futures” here (link to CF page).

Students take the following subjects (for more information, please see the separate subject pages):

  • English
    • Mathematics
    • Science
    • Modern Foreign Language
    • Humanities (History, Geography and Integrated Studies - includes the statutory requirements of
